KNOTS
CONTINUED - Practice
Teaching yourself how to tie knots isn't a complicated
matter. I know I've heard it a thousand times, but here it comes
again - all it takes is practice. It's best to practice in a relaxed
atmosphere by yourself. Nobody ever Sets it right the first time,
so be patient and give yourself plenty of time. Once you do get
it right, tie the knot over and over again until it becomes second
nature,
The more times you tie a knot, the faster and more efficient you
become. When you get into a hot bite, you don't want to be fumbling
around looking for your "knot book" or second-guessing
yourself. If you aren't sure about a knot, don't use it.
Please don't try to practice new knots when you're fishing. You
don't need the pressure or the disappointment. Try to do all your
rigging the night before. I've always gone by the old saying, "Luck
is when opportunity meets preparation." When that big fish
gets on the line, it's good to know the knot was tied properly and
will hold.
